Preston Boys and Girls Cross Country

It's been a tremendous season for the 2020 Preston Cross Country teams. The girls and boys have put in a ton of miles this summer and season. They have been extremely dedicated and their hard work paid off Wednesday at the Preston Golf Course with the girls and boys teams both winning the district championships. Both teams have shown steady improvement throughout the season and seem to be peaking at the right time.

The girls are very young with only one senior Rachel Lee on the team this season. Junior Mckinley Scott has been the steady top runner for the girls team finished 3rd at the district meet with a time of 19:49.The four freshmen Angelie Scott was 3rd (19:54), Maren Leffler 4th (19:57), Elly Jeppsen 6th (20:08), and Oakley Reid was 10th (20:21). Senior Rachel Lee was 11th (21:11), and Sophomore Alyssa Crowther was 12th (21:33). The girls have improved each week and hope to be in the mix at the state meet at the Portneuf Wellness Center in Pocatello on Friday, October 30th.  They had an impressive pack time of 32 seconds this week. The girls will run at 11:30am. Skyline will be the favorite, along with Sandpoint, Bishop Kelly, Preston, and Pocatello all in the mix for a shot at the trophies.

The Preston boys have finished 2nd at the state meet the past two seasons and are hoping for the blue trophy this year. Senior Sam Jeppsen led the way finishing 2nd at the district meet Preston with a time of 15:58. Junior Edison Leffler was 3rd overall (16:08), Junior Garrett Hale was 6th (16:32), Junior Reynger Davidsavor 9th(16:59), Freshman Luke Visser 10th (17:10), and freshman Druw Jones 12th (17:17). Preston and Pocatello have battled back and forth all season with each team winning twice in competitions where both teams ran in the same meet this season. The two teams are the two top ranked teams in the 4A classification this year. Others teams that will be in the hunt at the state meet are Sandpoint, Blackfoot, and Bishop Kelly. The boys are focused and determined to and are peaking at the right time. It will be a battle this Saturday. The boys will run at 12:15pm on Friday at the Portneuf Wellness center in Pocatello for the state meet.
